Susan Wojcicki, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YouTube, has passed away at the age of 56. The heartbreaking news was shared by her husband, Dennis Troper, in a heartfelt Facebook post. Google CEO Sundar Pichai paid tribute to Wojcicki, stating, "She is as core to the history of Google as anyone, and it’s hard to imagine the world without her." Apple CEO Tim Cook joined fellow tech leaders in expressing condolences, acknowledging Wojcicki's significant influence on the industry. He took to the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) to share his sentiments: “She was one of Silicon Valley’s visionaries and she will be missed by so many.” In his post, Cook wrote, “Saddened to hear of the passing of Susan Wojcicki. She was one of Silicon Valley’s visionaries and she will be missed by so many. May she rest in peace.” Wojcicki joined Google in 1999 as its sixth employee, playing a crucial role in the company's early successes before becoming CEO of YouTube in 2014. Under her guidance, YouTube transformed from a popular video-sharing site into a multifaceted media platform boasting over 2 billion monthly active users. Following her death, Pichai sent a memo to Google employees, emphasizing Wojcicki’s vital contributions to the company’s growth. He fondly recalled her kindness during his interview, when she took him out for ice cream. Pichai also mentioned that the company would soon announce plans to celebrate her remarkable life.
